Audax is a highly versatile enterprise with a focus on the publication, distribution and retailing of media and related products. Within Audax, we distinguish four core activities forming the area of operations of various subsidiary companies. You will find Audax offices in both the Netherlands and Belgium. The main office and logistics centre are in Gilze, the Netherlands. Audax employs over 1,200 people, realising a consolidated turnover of 310 million EUR in 2009.
”Vir audax vir beatus est: a valiant man is a happy man.”The founder of Audax, J.J.A.M. de Leeuw used his vision and spunk to build this company into what it is today: an important player in the Dutch media landscape.Between 2000 and 2006 Audax saw an extensive growth, leading to a strong increase in turnover and company results.Various activities in the middle of 2006, including the integration of the Belgian Cascade Publishing and the takeover of the Wegener weekly Party, created the basis for further growth of our own Publishing Division. In 2007 AKO took over the last 16 Bruna train station shops, meaning that our Retail Division went throught the magic 100 shop mark. In wholesale Betapress managed to improve its market position in the Netherlands. In the period 2007-2008 a large number of publishers brought their magazine portfolios to Betapress, including Weekbladpers Groep, Hachette Filipacchi (e.g. Quote) and ReedBusiness (e.g. Elsevier). The Audax strategy is aimed at maintaining autonomy and guaranteeing continuity. The main policy to achieve this is to extend its market shares wherever possible and to ensure sufficient output. Audax will always actively respond to current events on the market, creating an environment for its employees – on the basis of family and social values – that helps them to turn their own creativity and motivation into added value for the company.
